Manuka Hummus and Garlic Pita Wedges

Manuka Honey and Garlic make an invigorating combination, both well known for their health properties. If you have these simple ingredients as pantry staples, you can have this on the table within 10 minutes, so it’s perfect as a quick and elegant snack.

Serves: 4-6
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 3-5 minutes



  • 1 cup drained, rinsed, cooked chickpeas
  • 5 cloves garlic, roasted
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons manuka honey (you can use UMF rated or unrated manuka honey)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 2 lemons

Garlic pita wedges

  • 4 small pita pockets
  • 1/2 cup parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 25g butter, softly melted



  1. Put in food processor and blend until smooth
  2. Garnish with sweet paprika and a drizzle of oil

Garlic pita wedges

  1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celsius, fan grill.
  2. Cut pita pocket in half, length ways.
  3. Mix all ingredients together in a cup.
  4. Spread mixture evenly all over pita.
  5. Toast pita pockets under the grill for approx. 3 minutes or until golden and crispy.
